The Arctic region in the system of international economic development: subregional analysis of maritime infrastructure and resource extraction in the context of economic security challenges

Abstract

The article's hypothesis is that contemporary geopolitical dynamics in the Arctic region are shaped more by the growing control over economic routes, energy resources, and infrastructure projects, which form a new model of geoeconomic competition. The purpose of this article is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the key trends in the geopolitical transformation of the Arctic, assess the role of new actors and institutional mechanisms, and identify potential points of conflict between different models of the region’s economic development.
